Eat, Sleep, Play

Eat, Sleep, Play

In a world where extended families may live hundreds or thousands of miles apart,  Joanie has produced Eat, Sleep, Play to help parents and grandparents tap into their own skills in parenting by describing basic infant and child health concerns and tips to alleviate these concerns.

Joanie Smith Holm was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida. She trained as a Registered Nurse in Georgia, and a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in Virginia. Joanie is also a part of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners. She is currently practicing as a pediatric nurse practitioner for Avera Medical Group Brookings.

She met her South Dakotan husband, Rick Holm, while they were both in school in Atlanta, Georgia. Joanie and Rick have four grown children. Along with her nursing jobs, Joanie owned and operated a large day care center in the 80’s. This experience increased her knowledge of child development as well as give her an inside look at the lives and stresses of full time working parents.
